By Govinda Sharma, Banke, Nov. 6: Surya Gurung is a member of the district committee of Nepal Communist Party, Banke.
Gurung, who is also the former ward chair, utilised his free time during the lockdown in making pots from useless vehicle tyres to grow dragon fruits and various other vegetables on his house rooftop.
"As I had uploaded the pictures of pots on Facebook, many of my friends liked the concept and started ordering the pots. Since then, I have been busy making flower pots from useless stuff lying around," said Gurung.
Gurung, who sold around 100 flower pots during the lockdown, says that he is facing difficulty in delivering people's order on time. "Various government and private offices also buy flower pots from me," he said.
"The flower pots costs Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 5,000 depending upon the type and size. I have sold pots worth Rs. 200,000 until now," added Gurung.
"I make the flower pots by using old tyres, mineral water bottles, mineral water jars and various other scraps," he said.
Gurung started making pots out of tyres after seeing a video about the same on Social media.
As he has been receiving a lot of appreciations, Gurung is planning to give continuity to the business.
