Kathmandu, Mar. 1: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Parbat Gurung, has said that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli could not tender his resignation constitutionally.
At a press conference organised at the Ministry on Monday to make the cabinet decisions public, Minister Gurung argued that the Supreme Court's decision of reinstating the House of Representatives itself could not allow Prime Minister Oli to resign constitutionally.
Also the Spokesperson of the government, Gurung opined, "The SC's verdict of reinstating the HoR has mentioned that there is no another constitutional alternative before the Prime Minister except running the government and state. So Prime Minister Oli has no other constitutional option except running the government."
Urging those demanding resignation of PM Oli to read the SC's verdict thoroughly in this regard, he said, "The government will move ahead implementing SC's decision. So no one has right to ask resignation of the Prime Minister against SC's verdict."
Minister Gurung warned that those saying PM Oli should resign from the post on the moral ground themselves should retire from politics.
He mentioned, "Running the state with accountability towards the cabinet and parliament by the Prime Minister as a leader of the parliamentary party with majority is the matter of constitutional morale."
