Kapilbastu, Aug 5 : The Armed Police Force (APF) has taken a person under control for possessing Rs 1.6 million whose source was not verified. The arrested is 36-year-old Binod Sonar of Pakadi, Mayadevi rural municipality-1 in the district, APF Inspector Santosh Devkota said.
Sonar had been coming towards Nepal from India at that time and was held based on a tip off. He was arrested on Tuesday evening. Police confiscated 12 stacks of 100 units of bank notes of Rs 1,000 denomination, one stack of 100 units of Rs 500 denomination and eight stacks of Rs 100 denomination.
Sonar along with the confiscated amount has been sent to the Sunauli customs office for necessary action, Devkota added. It is suspected that Sonar is involved in gold smuggling and might have brought the amount to Nepal for that purpose.
