Lalitpur, April 10 : Cyclist Devendra Basnyat, who completed the 'Pedal for Education' cycle journey from Dolakha to Dipayal, was honoured at a function organized by Help Nepal Network, a philanthropy institution.
Centenarian culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi honoured cyclist Basnyat at a function held at his residence in Lalitpur on Thursday. On the occasion, Joshi said that the social work of cyclist Devendra Basnyat had sensitized one and all. He honoured him with a shawl and letter of appreciation.
Basnyat had made the solo cycle journey from Dolakha to Dipayal in order to raise funds for the construction of the Rajkuleswar school building in Dolakha and library building in Dadeldhura. This rally has encouraged social service, while spurring social awakening, Joshi said.
At the function, Help Nepal Network Chairperson Arun Singh Basnet said cyclist Basnyat was the first person of Nepal to complete a solo cycle journey of 1200 kilometers.
Founding chair of the Network Rabindra Mishra, advisors Shanker Koirala, Bijaya Rajbhandari, cyclist Basnyat and Network Secretary Lata Ghimire expressed their views on the occasion.
