Lahan, Jan 19 : Socialist Party Chair and former Deputy Prime Minister Upendra Yadav has said his party was struggling to materialise the dream of martyrs.
Leader Yadav who arrived here today to attend a programme commemorating the 13th Madhes Sacrifice Day at Martyrs Chowk in Lahan, said martyrs' dreams were yet to come true.
He promised not to let sacrifice of martyrs and their visions go waste. On the occasion, he laid a wreath on the statues of the martyrs of Madhes movement including Ramesh Mahato.
Siraha was the provenance of Madhes movement. State 2 Economic Affairs Minister Bijay Yadav and other leaders were also present at the programme.
The Socialist Party and Rastriya Janata Party observe Magh 5 every year as the Sacrifice Day in commemoration of the deaths of people including Mahato in the Madhes movement.
The State 2 government has announced a public holiday in the State. Several programmes were organised in Birgunj from the government level on the occasion.
The Janamat Party led by Dr CK Raut also organised a programme at Nawarajpur rural municipality in Siraha to mark the Sacrifice Day.
