Nawalpur, July 8: More than 150 houses of Hupsekot rural municipality in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta east) have been inundated due to flood following incessant rainfall from Wednesday night.
All the houses from Rajali tole to Buddha chowk of ward no 3 have been waterlogged. Ward chairperson of Hupsekot-3, Chhabilal Mithun, said that though water has entered the ground floor of the houses of locals, no huge damages have been reported.
Similarly, the flood in Girubari rivulet has crossed the embankment and entered the Girubari settlement and farm. Paddy planted on around 20 bighas of land has been damaged by flood, it is learnt.
A local Bishworaj Lamichhane shared that the flood has affected paddy planted on around 100 bighas of land there.
Meanwhile, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology sending a message on mobile of the general people urged locals to stay on high alert till Friday.
According to the Department, 167.8 millimetres of rainfall have been recorded in the area in the last 24 hours.
