Kapilbastu, Oct 31 : A person has been killed after he was hit by bullet fired by police citing he breached the curfew order imposed in Krishnanagar area here following dispute etween the locals over disposing of an idol used for Laxmi Puja.
The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Suraj Kumar Pandey of Krishnanagar Municipality-2.
The District Administration Office Kapilbastu has enforced a curfew for an indefinite period from 11 am today after a clash broke out between two sides in Krishnanagar town area.
Chief District Officer Gajendra Bahadur Shrestha said the curfew order has been issued after the clash that occurred on Wednesday turned violent.
Some locals and policemen have also sustained injuries in course of the clash. Police said the situation has become tense as the dispute has taken a violent turn over a minor issue. Police had fired 50 rounds tear gas shells on Wednesday to take the situation under control.
The District Administration Office has stated that the curfew has been clamped within a perimeter of 700 metres towards north, 700 metres towards the west and 300 metres east from Krishnanagar customs office. The District Administration has stated that action would be taken as per the law in case of violation of the curfew order.
