Nepalgunj, Aug. 10: Various non-governmental organisations have donated Rs. 7.6 million worth of health materials to Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City and the Bheri Hospital to help them prepare for a potential third wave of COVID-19.

The Area No. 6 unit of Lions Club International District 325 B2 provided Bheri Hospital Rs. 3 million worth of oxygen concentrators, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine, Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) machine and ventilators. According to the club, the machines were purchased with grant assistance from the Multiple International Group.

Receiving the equipment, Bheri Hospital head Dr. Prakash Thapa thanked the Lions Club for its aid and said that it would help the hospital fight against the coronavirus.
Stating that these materials have been provided for the treatment of COVID-19 patients, Lions Leader Sem Shakya requested the hospital management to pay special attention to their use.

Similarly, the Banke district chapter of the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) provided Nepalgunj sub-metro with Rs. 4.6 million worth of hand washing machines, sanitisers, surgical masks, gloves, oxygen cylinders, pulse oximetres and thermometers. The items were received with the support of the Embassy of Germany in Nepal and were donated for the management of isolation centres in the city, informed Govardhan Singh Samjhana, chairperson of NRCS Banke.
Mayor of Nepalgunj Dr. Dhawal Shumsher Rana received the materials and asked everyone to take precautions as a third wave seems very likely.
