Kathmandu, Jan 6: Ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and main opposition party, Nepali Congress, President Sher Bahadur Deuba have held consultations on completing the remaining works of the peace process.
Chair Dahal and general secretary Bishnu Prasad Poudel had reached Deuba's residence at Budhanilkantha today for the consultations. During the meeting, the leaders are learnt to have discussed the formation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP).
Although some works related to the peace process have been completed, no concrete achievement has been made concerning the two transitional justice commissions.
A team coordinated by Supreme Court Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR is involved in the process of selecting office-bearers to these two commissions.
NCP Chair Dahal and NC President Deuba talked about giving complete shape to the TRC and CIEDP at the soonest.
Chair Dahal's Press Coordinator, Bishnu Sapkota, said the two party chiefs exchanged views on contemporary political issues as well.
Discussions were held on the matter between Chair Dahal and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli soon after the consultation with NC President Deuba.
