Damauli, Oct. 1: Senior leader of the Nepali Congress (NC) Ram Chandra Poudel said his party was heading towards consolidating internal democracy.
In his address to a leadership handover of the NC Anbukhaireni working committee here today, he claimed the NC had adopted a democratic practice from the ward level.
Senior leader Poudel asserted that no other party except NC can adopt the democratic process and practice in Nepal. "People's attraction towards Congress has been on the rise due to its credential of democratic exercise".
Noting that NC has been the vanguard of democracy, he said they would retaliate if any force opted to undermine democracy. "NC was born for democracy and would continue fighting for further consolidation of democracy".
He clarified that he had been in the campaign of democratizing the entire society. Poudel called for party leadership towards resolving disputes related to active membership in remaining districts.
He opined that the party should be stronger than the leader.
Also speaking on the occasion, NC Tanahun district President Baikuntha Neupane, secretary Biswo Bastola and leader Ramchandfa Pokharel, among others had put their opinion.
On the occasion, the newly-elected President of NC Anbukhaireni, Bishnu Panta, and other office-bearers were handed over the respective positions.
