Kathmandu, June 7 : Main opposition Nepali Congress has shown severe concern over the tax imposed on the electric vehicles by the upcoming budget. It has demanded to cancel the tax. During the meeting of the House of Representatives today, NC lawmaker Devendra Raj Kandel commented that the tax imposed as high as 113 percent was regressive.
He further said the government was not responsible towards people but for damaging environment. "It is even against the election manifesto of the communist party," he reminded that it is high time such anomalies ended.
Lawmaker Kandel further argued that tax must be scrapped on electric vehicles in order to reduce the environment and protect human health. He asserted that it was also against Nepal's commitment in international forum on protection environment.
