Kathmandu, May 1 : Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged the government to make arrangement of immediate relief to the workers who are in a difficult situation due to the lockdown enforced to stem the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
The leader of the main opposition party in the Federal Parliament made this call in a message of best wishes he issued today on the occasion of the International Labour Day. Stating the the life of the labourers who eked out a living by selling work has become even the more difficult due to the shortage of essentials including food grains at present, he called on the government for prompt relief measures to them.
"The first historic movement of labourers took place in the country under the Nepali Congress' leadership in Biratnagar in 2003 BS, which was the launching pad for the historic people's revolt of 2007 BS that established democracy, and the Nepali Congress and the workers have always remained each others' inseparable associates," the Nepali Congress president said.
