Kathmandu, Dec. 26: The Central Working Committee meeting of the Nepali Congress scheduled for Thursday was deferred for Friday.
The meeting was deferred when the leaders failed to sort out the differences between the two factions in the party—one led by party president Sher Bahadur Dauba and another by senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel-- on formation of the Nepal Student Union (NSU).
NC chief secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel in a statement said that the meeting would be held on Friday at 1.00 PM at the party central office, Sanepa, Lalitpur.
To ensure the meeting be held NC vice-president Bimalendra Nidhi and Paudel team held talks on Thursday evening. But they are yet to reach a conclusion, said Paudel’s talks team member Hirdaya Ram Thani.
Meanwhile, NC senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel hinted that the ongoing dispute on NSU nomination was likely to be resolved at the earliest.
In a meeting with a delegation of the NSU led by Deepak Bhattarai, Paudel said serious discussions were undergoing in the party to resolve the dispute.
Paudel informed the dispute would be resolved as soon as possible with win-win situation for all.
The delegation urged Paudel to settle the NSU dispute at the earliest.
