Damauli, Dec 5 : Myagde Rural Municipality in Tanahun district has been distributing Rs 3,000 in allowance to each pregnant woman who has undergone delivery at a government health institution.
Thirty beneficiaries in the Rural Municipality have availed the service for the fiscal year 2020/21.
The allowance that was distributed on the occasion of the 16-day campaign against gender based violence aims to encourage pregnant women to visit health institution for check-up and delivery, said Chair of the Rural Municipality Maya Devi Rana.
"The allowance is meant for new mothers to purchase nutritious foods for the newly born," she said.
The Rural Municipality has aimed at reducing home birth to zero, said chief of the health section at the Rural Municipality, Tilak Ghimire.
"Many pregnant women have still given birth at home, thus increasing risks. We are making parents and pregnant women aware through various programmes," he said.
