Karnali, Feb. 23: Seeking their proper settlement, the members of Badi community from Dailekh district staged a sit-in from 7:00 pm on Monday to till this morning in front of the Office of Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Karnali Province.
Arriving in Surkhet from Dailekh on foot, they organised sit-in in the open filed in front of the Office of Chief Minister.
Deputy Superintendent of Police of District Police Office, Surkhet, Ram Prasad Gharti said that the number of Badi people staging sit-in there is almost 90.
They said that the demonstration was held to demand for their proper management of food, settlement and clothing.
Hikmat Badi of Dullu Municipality-1 said they arrived in Surkhet to seek help from the administration as they were going through the tough time for lack of farmland and other resources.
"We are preventing from extracting sand from the riverbank. It is difficult to run life. We are facing more crises due to the coronavirus infection," he shared. The population of Badi community in Dailekh district is more than 400 in 112 households.
