Sarlahi, April 30: With the disruption of import in the wake of nationwide lockdown, shortage of medicine has been witnessed here.
The ongoing lockdown has adversely affected the medicine supplies across the country and the district is naturally at the receiving end. Though government has announced the guarantee of smooth supply of medicine, the suppliers are facing tough time to transport the medicines to various places.
Dr Ghanshyam Singh shared that the medicines for asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes and thyroid are in high demand and the stock is not enough in various areas including the district headquarters.
The medicine suppliers have complained that they could not import the medicines as border points were closed owing to a threat of possible outbreak of COVID-19, he added.
According to medicine suppliers, remote areas were likely hit hard with the medicine shortage.
