Nuwakot, Oct 27 :Speakers at a seminar organised here to observe the 111th Birth Anniversary of Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota praised his contribution to the entire Nepali literature.
They remembered Devkota as a talent who wrote 'Shakuntal' epic in three months, 'Sulochana' epic in 10 days and 'Kunjini', a short epic, in a single day. They however rued over the failure to carve out a country as envisioned by Devkota.
The seminar with the theme of 'ideological view of Devkota' was organised jointly by Devkota Lu Xun Academy and Mahakavi Devkota Literature Academy.
On the occasion, former chairperson of the Progressive Writers' Association (PWA), Ninu Chapagain praised Devkota as a multi-talented figure, while Prof Ramesh Bhattarai shared Devkota's political journey.
Belkotgadhi municipality's attention has been drawn to reconstruct the house damaged by the 2015 earthquake, where Devkota had lived while writing 'Kunjini' and 'Pahadi Jiban' at Jhiltung in Nuwakot district, said vice chairperson of the municipality, Kabita Dhungana.
Also, PWA's former chairperson Matrika Pokharel and litterateur Avaya Shrestha lauded Devkota's contribution to the Nepali literature.
