Bhaktapur, Dec. 23: Madhyapur Thimi Municipality has won this year’s ‘Asian Township Award 2020’ for revitalising heritage and culture of the municipality.
This is the second time Nepal has won the prestigious award for conservation and revitalisation of the heritage of the city. Mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha said that the municipality won the award in a competition among various Asian countries.
Mayor Shrestha said it was a matter of pride. "We worked hard for the restoration of the historical and cultural heritages of the city and are still working to achieve the goals."
Other winners of the award include four cities from Korea, three from Japan, two from China and one each from Thailand and Malaysia.
