Sindhupalchowk, July 6: Local levels in Sindhuplachowk district have expressed their dissatisfaction over the inauguration of Melamchi drinking water project waterway by the government. The Melamchi Drinking Water Committee and the Ministry of Water Supply and Sanitation took the move without the knowledge of local levels and stakeholders, it is said.
Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal on Sunday inaugurated the waterway amid an event.
Local levels and stakeholders organised a press conference in the district on Monday and said that their attention was drawn to statements given by Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation Bina Magar about the residents of the district while delivering a speech at a programme recently here.
The local people demanded that the minister should correct her statements about the residents of the district. They also warned of a protest if demands of the local people are not met.
Chief of the district coordination committee Krishna Gopal Tamang, chief of the Melamchi Municipality Dambar Aryal, regional chairperson of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Phanindra Dahal, chairperson of Helmo Sindhu Social Upliftment Programme Upendra Tamang and chairperson of Indrawati stakeholder committee Bishnu Mani Acharya among others attended the press meet.
