Kathmandu, April 7 : Ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) senior leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has urged the public to stay indoors for some days more to be safe from the coronavirus pandemic.
Issuing a statement on Monday, he appealed for following the decisions and directives of the Government of Nepal and the World Health Organisation (WHO) in relation to prevention of coronavirus. Leader Nepal has thanked the people for their self-control, alertness and awareness for prevention and control of COVID-19.
The former Prime Minister also earnestly appealed to all concerned sides to provide relief to the hungry working class people, to correct if there was any duplication in relief distribution and to continue this initiative at least until there is environment for working for a living.
He also called attention of the government and the governments of the related countries to make conscious initiatives in connection with the health, security, visa and addressing other issues of Nepalis who are on abroad employment.
Stressing on safe and effective mobilisation of all the agencies of the state to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the ruling party senior leader also called for expanding the coverage of coronavirus testing.
He drew the attention of the three tiers of government and all those concerned to avert shortage of essential goods and price hike as well as on the need of giving extra attention to the safety of health workers, security personnel and those providing essential commodities.
The government should provide genuine guardianship by adopting in a transparent manner all possible means for the prevention, control and treatment despite the limited means and resources at disposal at this time of disaster, he said.
Leader Nepal also called special attention of the government to win the trust of the people through the rapid mobilisation and beefing up the morale of the state organs carrying out definitive functions, while thanking it for the initiatives it has done so far.
