Kathmandu, June 21 : The landline and ADSL telephone services have been disrupted in Gokareneshwor area after the optical fibres were snapped while laying drainpipe at Chautara of Gokarneshwor Municipality-4 on Saturday evening.
New drainpipes are being laid in course of road expansion. As many as 1600 landline telephones and ADSL services are disrupted at Ward No 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Gokarneshwor Municipality, said Khagendra Katuwal, chief of Nepal Telecom Jorpati Branch. All activities to be conducted via internet have been badly disturbed with the disruption in telephone service.
A local from Gokarneshwor Municipality, Shyam Bahadur Shrestha, complained that they were hassled as they were not informed earlier at a time when people engage in various activities from home in the wake of the lockdown.
On the other hand, Nepal Telecom has blamed that Kathmandu Valley Road Expansion Project did not coordinate with Nepal Telecom while expanding road.
Cutting down trees, laying drain pipe and constructing retention wall are going on for the expansion of 7-km roadway from Jorpati to Sundarijal, the east northern outskirt of the Kathmandu Valley.
