By Our Correspondent, Baitadi, Feb. 9: Lack of promotion has cast a shadow over Ganeshdhura, a Baitadi-based view point from where the mountain ranges of Nepal and India are visible.

Jethi Bahurani mountain of Bajhang, Api Nampa of Darchula and Panchachuli of Uttarakhand, India can be seen from Ganeshdhura, which lies 2,100 meters above the sea level.

From the peak of Ganeshdhura, which lies above Daisili village of Patan Municipality-1, district headquarters of Dadeldhura is also visible.

One can reach Daisili village by hiking a 13 kilometers long trail from Anar Kholi of Dasarath Chand Marg.

Almost two kilometers of the stoned trail staircase leading to the village has been obstructed due to the lack of conservation.

Dal Singh Thagunna, a local, said that Ganeshdhura hosted a worship fest on the first day of each Shrawan month.

“Although Ganeshdhura, which holds historic significance, has been hosting fests annually, lack of conservation and publicity has eclisped its tourism prospects,” said Tarka Singh Thagunna, another local.

No one has made efforts until now to conduct research about Ganseshdhura, the locals of Patan Municipality-1 said.

Despite various promotions and publicities of the tourism areas of Baitadi district in line with the Visit Nepal Year (VNY), 2020, Ganeshdhura has not been highlighted, said Ser Singh Bohora, a ward member of Patan Municipality-1.

Considering VNY 2020, the municipality had allocated a budget to construct staircases in Pattal Bhumeshwor cave and Ganeshdhura. Even though seven months of the Fiscal Year have elapsed, the budget hasn’t been enforced, the locals said.
