Kathmandu, Feb 24 : The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), the water utility body responsible for water supply in the Kathmandu Valley, has launched a mobile app that provides information on the water level.
The app has been launched with the objective of accessing information regarding the water volume and its distribution based on that. KUKL stated that this app has been launched from its Maharajgunj branch.
KUKL Executive Director Milan Shakya said one can get information on the volume of water using the app from any location. According to him, once the quantity of water is known by means of the app, then, water can be distributed on the basis of that information. He said this app would be more effective once water from the Melamchi Water Supply Project is available in the Valley as this app could aid in managing the distribution of water.
KUKL has been increasing the use of technology to systematize the water supply. It has also launched another app for collecting the complaints of service-recipients along with the commencement of this latest app on the occasion of its anniversary. KUKL has has stated that it was in the process of using technology for taking timely information regarding the leakage in water supply pipes at various places.
