Kathmandu, Jan 10 : The Kathmandu Metropolitan Committee of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has assigned mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Bidya Sundar Shakya the NCP metropolitan parliamentary party leader.
The post assignment was in line with the NCP statute. Likewise, KMC ward-3 chairperson Dipak KC has been chosen as deputy party leader, ward-15 chairperson Ishwor Man Dangol chief whip and ward-32 chairperson Nawaraj Parajuli whip.
The NCP is set to form a 27-member new committee in the days to come. The metropolitan committee is tasked with maintaining good governance at local level by making local government responsible to the people, said the committee's in-charge Jibanram Shrestha, also federal parliament lawmaker of Kathmandu constituency 8, adding that this new leadership would also help manage development and infrastructure construction of the metropolis.
