Birendranagar, March 20 : The Karnali state government has established a 'health desk' at six locations as a precautionary measure against the risk of novel coronavirus infection.
The State Health Directorate said measurement of body temperature of people is taking place from such desks established at the local border transit points.
As said by Directorate information officer Laxmi Prasad Bhattarai, so far body temperature of 420,300 people has been measured and among them, 80 had 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit fever. They were urged to stay at home and take precautions.
Preparations are going on to increase the number of health desks bearing in mind the increased risk of an outbreak of viral disease while its global pandemic accelerates. Besides, programmes to make the public aware of the disease has been intensified.
At present, Kapurkot in Salyan, Babai, the border between Banke and Surkhet and Jamu of Panchapuri among others have health desk.
Local levels have established health desks in view of infection risk.
