Lahan, April 17: The lockout at the Kalyanpur municipality in Siraha for the past five days is yet to be lifted.
All the regular office activities and local government-run projects have been hampered by the protest of ward chairs and local body executive members. The protesting group has accused of massive irregularities at the local level.
They padlocked the office on April 14 accusing the acting mayor and chief administrative officer of indulging in wide-ranging irregularities.
Acting Mayor Rohini Kumari Yadav and Chief Administrative Officer Jay Prasad Das allegedly changed the list of projects endorsed by the municipal assembly through a unilateral decision.
The two have been alleged of promoting nepotism, handing various projects to those from their relatives' circle and indulging in commission. Ward 5 chair Dipendra Yadav said nine ward members and eight local body executive members have padlocked the office, putting forth a charter of 21-point demands.
