Khalanga, July 22: District COVID Crisis Management Committee (DDCMC) of Jumla decided to at least make available textbooks to school children as soon as possible.
The DCCMC took the decision after it received complaints that students of the district schools were not getting their textbooks, said assistant chief district officer of Jumla Nandaram Chaulagai.
Though the new academic session began from mid-June, still many students of the district have been unable to buy textbooks.
Chaulagain informed that the DCCMC decided to provide textbooks to the students even though the schools have not resumed classes in physical presence of students and teachers.
The DCCMC decided to provide the books visiting the houses of students.
Meanwhile, book suppliers of the district have also been facing problems when the headmasters of schools are not visiting them to buy textbooks.
Ganesh Rokaya, manager of the GP Stationery and Supplier of the district, said that his stationary brought books worth Rs. 2.5 million but only limited books are sold as the head teachers and teachers are not visiting them to buy the books.
Like Rokaya, Sandhya Stationary has also been unable to sell books for a long time. After the decision of the DCCMC to provide students with books, now schools have to be responsible to available textbooks to all children soon, Chaulagain said.
