Thini, Mustang, Nov 17 : The Jomsom-Korola road of Mustang under the Kaligandaki Corridor Road Project is to be closed for three days. The road is being shut for three days starting November 21 in order to expand the road section from Samar to Jho river.
A decision to this end was taken by a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief District Officer Bed Prasad Aryal. Explosives will be used to expand the road, and hence it is being closed for traffic, the Project office said.
The notice has been sent out in advance in order to facilitate the travel of the tourists coming to Upper Mustang and the local resident, Project Chief Mukunda Adhikari said. The 110-kilometer Jomsom-Korola road is being constructed in seven different sections. Work on four sections is in the final stage. Work on the road will be halted due to heavy snowfall starting the last week of December.
Chairperson of Loghekar Damodar Kunda rural municipality Raju Bista lamented over the dilly dallying by the contractors leading to slow progress in the road construction. The extension of the contract period is coming to an end in eight months from now and still three more sections are to be completed.
