Kathmandu, Jan. 15: The three-day ‘Nepal Job Fair 2021’ has kicked off at Soaltee Crowne Plaza in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Aspire Jobs is organising the event that will also be opened virtually to the job aspirants, with the aim of making interaction between the educated or skilled youth and employers that are in search of human resources that fit in their requirement.
Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal inaugurated the fair and expressed belief that the event could be an appropriate platform for the people in search of jobs and employers who are in search of qualified and skilled human resources.
“If we truly wish for the development of the country, it’s not impossible. Today’s youth want result-oriented plans and activities,” he said.
Employment expert Prof. Dr. Ramesh Prasad Koirala said that foreign investment was needed to create employment in Nepal.
“The government should be clear on the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA) and Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) to attract more Foreign Direct Investment,” he said.
Economic analyst Hari Roka said that weak government spending, decreasing production and demand would lead the country to the vicious cycle of recession.
He also stated that the present structure would not allow transformation of the economy.
The fair aims to introduce ethical and transparent human resource practice.
Pramosh Adhikari, vice president of the company, said that the more than 100 employer companies would participate in the fair and more than 150 interview sessions would be organised. “We have estimated that the event will ensure jobs for more than 3,000 youth,” he said.
The fair will continue till Saturday. It will also feature seminars on foreign study, competition on youth entrepreneurship, and career seminar on aviation and hospitality sector.
