Chitwan, Nov 1: The identity of a man of around 30 years of age who had allegedly jumped into the Narayani River on the day of Laxmi Puja few days ago is yet to be ascertained, the District Police Office, Chitwan said.
According to eye witnesses, he jumped into the river at around 4:00 pm on October 27 carrying a child of nearly 10 years of age. But the status of the child is yet to be known. Though later police was able to retrieve his lifeless body, the boy who was said to be with him could not be found, Deputy Superintendent of Police Yek Narayan Koirala said.
Those who witnessed the incident informed about it to the police. The body has been kept at the Bharatpur Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
