By Our Correspondent, Nepalgunj, Dec. 6: Pregnant women infected with HIV in Banke are giving birth to healthy babies by starting the treatment process on time.
According to the Bheri Hospital, six out of ten infected women in Banke have given birth to healthy babies.
Homnath Subedi, HTC counselor at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj, said that among the 10 infected pregnant women, one lost her baby while six delivered healthy babies.
According to him, those infected pregnant women came in contact with Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj in the last fiscal year. They were given necessary medicines and were kept under supervision. Now it is confirmed that six of the babies were born healthy and reports of the three babies have yet to come, Subedi said.
Meanwhile, 526 HIV-positive people are taking regular medicine from the hospital. Among these, 27 are under 15 years of age. They were diagnosed with HIV at birth and are now on medication, said Subedi.
Subedi informed that the infected people were being given regular check-ups as well as regular medicines.
