By Smita Adhikari, Pokhara, May 13: Youth working for the zoological realm in the Gandaki region have been united with an aim to lobby and act for the promotion of biodiversity through fauna protection.
They have formed a team called 'Nepal Zoological Society Gandaki Province'.
For this, more than 50 youth from all the districts of Gandaki organised a meeting in Zoom interaction and formed 11 member working committee in the Chairmanship of Hemanta Dhakal.
Dhakal is a lecturer of Zoology in Prithivi Narayan Campus and also a social Campaigner for bird conservation.
According to the newly elected Chair Dhakal, there are immense possibilities of development through natural resources and the best environment available here in these days, those resources have been decaying cause of construction works and pollution.
"In this situation, many kinds of local animal gone disappeared. So, along with the development activities we have a great challenge to protect species of wildlife, plants and so many other natural diversities" he said.
The youth team has planned to identify the problems, challenges, and opportunities in animal and nature conservations. "For this purpose research works and projects will be implemented" Dhakal added.
