Myagdi, June 3 : The Myagdi district chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has set up an ‘emergency fund’ to help journalists in difficult time.
A meeting of the FNJ Myagdi chapter presided over by its chair Prakash Poudel on Wednesday decided to institute the fund to support journalists in natural disaster, accident, pandemic and complicated diseases.
Treasurer Amit Biswokarma informed that the fund received over Rs 100,000 from the office-bearers, members and advisors of the chapter attending the meeting on Wednesday alone.
“The fund was established by the journalists for the journalists”, chapter chair Poudel said, adding that the fund size would be gradually enlarged and support would be provided to the needy journalists from the interest of the principle amount as per the working procedure.
FNJ Myagdi chapter has 62 members.
