Myagdi, May 8 : Five people have been found infected with dengue in Beni municipality, according to a team mobilised to control the disease. A campaign has been intensified in the district to search and destroy mosquito larvae.
An awareness campaign has also been launched followed by the search and destroy campaign. Following the detection of the cases, a gathering of the people's representatives and the tole reform committee has been organised in the municipality to destroy mosquito larvae and devise a ward-level plan against the infection, said ward chair of the municipality-7, Rajendra Kumar Shrestha. As part of the campaign, several measures including keeping municipality areas neat and clean, spraying pesticides, identifying the places with larvae and their destruction are underway, he said. Support from Nepal Police and Nepal Army would also be sought in this regard, said the municipality mayor Hari Kumar Shrestha.
