Muglin, Dec 26 : Icchyakama, the only rural municipality in Chitwan district, has got its first ever eye treatment centre.
The centre came into operation at Kurintar in ward no. 4 of the rural municipality on Friday, at the joint initiative of the rural municipality, Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh and Bharatpur eye hospital.
Chairperson of the rural municipality Geeta Kumari Gurung inaugurated the centre on Friday. On the occasion, she said that the compulsion of the locals to go to Bharatpur for eye-related ailments has ended. Gradually all the services available at Bharatpur hospital will be available at the centre.
Chair of Ward no. 4 Hom Bahadur Rana said the centre will also benefit locals from Gandaki, Shahi Lakhan of Gorkha and Benighat Rorang rural municipality of Dhading.
Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh central member Chitra Kumar Maskey said that the Sangh plans to set up such eye treatment centres in 350 locations of the country. So far, 121 centres have been established.
