Kathmandu, Feb. 9: Nepali film industry has not seen any activity and vibrancy for the past 11 months.
The only Nepali film released in theaters in the last 11 months was “Euta Yesto Prem Kahani”. But it flopped badly as moviegoers fear visiting the theatres because of COVID-19.
However, critics said the film suffered in the box-office because of its weak contents.
Additionally, the effects of COVID-19 also plunged the film into a deep abyss.
With the advent of the COVID-19 vaccine and the opening up of all areas, filmmakers are now gearing up for the release of their stalled and new films. Meanwhile, the film “Gorkhe” is scheduled to be released across the country from March 5.
Presented by Hari Lama under the banner of Koju Entertainment and produced by Tirtharam Koju and Hari Thapa, the film is all about five youth and their dreams.
However, it seems many Nepali filmmakers are desperately waiting for Nepali New Year to release their films.
The New Year is considered to be a time to fill the theaters with the movements of moviegoers.
Targeting the New Year with the hope of receiving the attractive flow of audience, the filmmakers have announced release of three films for the coming New Year.
They are “Lappan Chappan-2”, “Man Sanga Man” and “Krishna Leela”.
Lappan Chappan-2, which announced its release last year but could not due to lockdown, had further postponed the release date to March 11. Again, its producer has deferred the release date to April 9.
Film Krishna Lila’s shooting has just completed and “Man Sanga Man” was shot before the lockdown was imposed last year. The film, which was initially shot as “Chalbaaj”, has recently been renamed as “Man Sanga Man”.
The interesting thing about “Man Sanga Man” and “Krishna Leela” is that both films have Pushpa Khadka in the lead role. In other words, after the New Year, actor Pushpa will be competing with himself at the box office.
Three other films “Prem Geet-3”, Chapali Height 3” and “Michael Adhikari” had also announced their release dates last year.
However, after the outbreak of the coronavirus, the government stopped all cinema-related activities, which led to the interruption of all these films and the release date of these films has not been announced yet.
