By Amar Raj Naharki, Tanahun, May 22: Ansul Lohani, a social worker, met a homeless man living on the streets of the Kamalpokhari area in Kathmandu.
When Lohani asked him to introduce himself, the man identified himself as Lok Bahadur Gurung from Tanahun.
Lohani then clicked some photos of Gurung and uploaded them on his Facebook account on Tuesday, requesting everyone to help him in finding the family members of Gurung.
A few days later, with the help of people’s replies, Lohani was able to discover more information about Gurung and his home in Tanahun: He was a resident of Ward No. 6 in Bandipur Rural Municipality and had been missing since he was 11 years old.
Gurung, now 42, had been away from his family members for the past 31 years. He was then brought into contact with Bandipur Rural Municipality, which then helped him reach his home on Wednesday. Gurung has two elder brothers at home while their parents have already died.
“Having seen their youngest brother after three decades, the brothers’ happiness knew no bounds,” said Santa Bahadur Gurung, Ward No. 6 chairmen. Nevertheless, the authorities have requested Gurung to stay in quarantine for 10 days.
