Rajbiraj, Oct 11: Checking has been intensified in various road sections of Saptari after public complaints about transport entrepreneurs fleecing them during the Dashain festival. Most people returning to Kathmandu are being charged transport fare that is higher than fixed by the transport authorities.
A joint team of Area Police Office, Kadarbona and the temporary traffic police post in Kadamaha has been stopping passenger vehicles on the way, and asking passengers about the amount they paid.
According to Area Police Office, Kadarbona chief Police Inspector Ramraja Kesari, 20 passengers were found to have been charged high rate and hence the amount the returned from the bus conductors. A total of Rs. 7,000 was returned yesterday.
Likewise, vehicles carrying more than capacity passengers were also fined while the speed limit is being monitored, said inspector Kesari.
