Kathmandu, April 2 : The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), water supply authority in Kathmandu Valley, has begun distributing Melamchi water at Balaju area. The drinking water is being supplied from 5:00am today.
Chief Executive Officer at KUKL, Milan Shakya, informed that the Melamchi water is being distributed at Nayabazar, Sohrakhutte, Balaju area of Kathmandu. Earlier, the Melamchi water was poured to Balaju tank. "Among the tanks in the valley, only Bansbari is left to be supplied the Melamchi water. It will not take long now," he added.
The KUKL is expanding the area for the supply of Melamchi water in the valley. For the first round, the Melamchi water was brought 40 million liter per day while it has been increased to 85 million lilter per day.
With the completion of much awaited Melamchi Drinking Water Project, the water is being supplied in the Kathmandu Valley for five days. In the first phase, it was supplied to Purano Mahankal, Minbhawan, Anamnagar and Khumaltar.
