Saptari, Sept 21 : The dead body of a COVID-19 infected woman at Bishnupur Rural Municipality-3 in Saptari district is yet to be disposed although it's been a day since she succumbed to the flu-like infection on Sunday evening.
The 62-year-old woman had died in few hours after she was tested positive for the Coronavirus.
She was admitted to Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital on last Friday after she developed fever and common cold.
Her dead body was kept at isolation facility as the local unit could not manage it, according to COVID-19 Management Coordinator at the Hospital, Dr Ranajit Kumar Jha.
The bereaved family members have been staying inside the Hospital premises in absence of body management.
They demanded to hand them the dead body if the Hospital could not manage it.
The procedure for managing dead body of the COVID-19 infected persons mandates that such dead bodies be managed as early as possible and in the safest manner.
So far, the Nepal Army's trained personnel have been mostly disposing the dead body of COVID-19 patients in cooperation of the concerned local authority.
According to Bishnupur Rural Municipality Chairperson Leelambar Yadav, the rural municipality's machine needed to dig a pit was currently given for servicing which hindered the disposal process for the dead body.
The dead bodies of the COVID-19 infected ones are cemented in the pit to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19.
Efforts were made to manage the dead body in an alternative way, informed Yadav.
Saptari has so far recorded 10 COVID-19 casualties with this recent death.
