Kathmandu, Mar. 11: Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister, Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai has said the government has been working for the overall development of Lumbini. Lumbini is the birthplace of the Buddha and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Addressing a meeting of the Lumbini Council here today, he said many studies have been made for the development of Lumbini, and the place would be developed on the basis of these studies.
Noting that Lumbini is a place that identified Nepal, the Culture Minister expressed the belief that Lumbini's development would be enhanced after the operation of the Gautam Buddha International Airport.
He reiterated that visitors would be attracted to Lumbini by developing the area which is one of the major touristic areas of the country.
Vice-chair of the Lumbini Development Trust (LDT), Avadesh Kumar Tripathi described Lumbini as the pride of Nepal and hence its development would support the economic development of the country.
The meeting will carry out the annual review of the Council's plan and also prepare the budget for the next year.
