Janakpur, Jan 15: Province No 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut has wished that may Makar Sankranti or Maghi festival help foster unity, fraternity, goodwill and tolerance.
In a message of best wishes on the occasion here today, Chief Minister Raut said that Makar Sankranti was an important festival among the diverse cultures of Nepal and wished that this festival add further fervor among the Nepalis.
Makar Sankranti or Maghi Parva is observed on the first day of Nepali month Magh according to the lunar calendar. It is believed that the Sun enters into northern hemisphere from today.
CM Raut said, "The provincial government is committed to preserve and conserve festivities and cultures such as Makar Sankranti which is observed with fervor in various ethnic communities across our country having diverse cultures, ethnicities and religions."
