Hetauda, March 3: Bagmati State Chief Minister Dormani Poudel has said the Department of Archeology is not expected to create hurdles in state and local level's efforts for protecting and promoting heritages.
During his discussions today with representatives from Bara and Makwanpur districts about the reconstruction and protection of Churiyamai tunnel route, he said such efforts should not be hampered by the intervention of department concerned.
"The protection of Churiya remaining as the first tunnel route in the Asia is the priority of the state government. This priceless treasure should not be kept under a veil. It is a matter of pride that our ancestors had built it first time in the entire Asia."
Rebuilding and protection of the tunnel and Pharping-based Chandra Jyoti Hydro Power were included in the state first policies and programmes.
State minister for physical infrastructure development said the rebuild works would begin from the upcoming Nepali New Year.
