Tulasipur, Feb 20 : Brick kilns in Tulsipur Sub-metropolis of Dang have been found employing child labor. It has been found that there are around 350 child laborers working in the brick industries within the sub-metropolis.
According to the data collected by BASE, an NGO, there are 348 children working as labourers for the brick kilns in the Sub-metropolis.
A study was conducted in 15 brick factories out of 17 in the sub-metropolis, where 180 boys and 168 girls were found working, said Pinki Chaudhary, program officer of BASE.
The organization is now working to rescue the child laborers from the brick industries.
Meanwhile, Kumar Lamichhane, coordinator of the social development committee at the Sub-metropolis, said that the policy of prohibiting child labor has been formulated and is being implemented.
Chairperson of Dang Deukhuri Brick Industry Entrepreneurs Committee, Prem Nath Yogi, however said that the children in the brick industry are dependent of the families working in the industries.
