Kanchanpur, Mar. 23: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) district chapter has called for a closure of publication of newspapers published from the district.
Issuing a statement here today, Chapter President Bishnu Awasthi said the appeal has been made in order to protect all associated with media from the menace of Coronavirus or COVID-19.
Citing lack of paper required to print the newspapers and the need for some printing workers to stay on quarantine, the FNJ Kanchanpur has appealed to all proprietors to stop the publication until COVID-19 is controlled. The FNJ Kanchanpur has instead suggested disseminating news through online and the social media.
"Even use of microphone for taking interviews is a risk to the correspondents, hence I request all to gather information through telephone and disseminate using other means including the internet," Awasthi has said.
