Rasuwa, Dec 12 : Police in Rasuwa has urged guardians in the district to not adore their children with golden ornaments.
This request has been made after it was revealed that a minor was killed as a result of the golden earrings that she was wearing.
A resident of Ramche Kharsa in ward no-1 of Kalika rural municipality in the district, six-year-old Sumina Tamang was kidnapped and later murdered. She was wearing earrings worth Rs. 10,000, which is said to be the reason behind the incident that took place on December 6.
District Police Office, Rasuwa Chief DSP Indra Prasad Subedi said a campaign has been initiated to stop such criminal activities by ensuring that school going children are not wearing expensive ornaments, they don't eat any food given by strangers and that guardians drop and pick up their kids from school.
Sumina was a Grade 1 student at Grang primary school, when she was kidnapped on her way home from the school. Sapana Tamang,19, a resident of Nuwakot district has been arrested on the charge of kidnapping and murdering Sumina. Sumina's body was recovered on December 8.
