Dang, July 10: The Babai rural municipality has introduced a special programme for lactating women and their new born. Under the theme 'healthy mother, healthy child', the municipality aims to protect the life of the new mothers and their babies, said deputy Mayor Sabitri Biswakarma.
The programme also includes incentives for institutional delivery, especially in government health facilities. An allowance of Rs. 2,000 is provided to encourage pregnant women to opt for institutional delivery of their child.
In the new fiscal year budget, the rural municipality has allocated a budget of Rs. one million for this programme. The municipality has passed a budget of Rs. 516.4 million for the fiscal year 2021/22.
