Damak, July 11 : The bridge constructed over the Mawakhola three years back here has caved in as the swollen river eroded its base.
As a result, the road has subsided and only one way traffic has been allowed.
The whole road may have been damaged if efforts to repair it were not made on time, said local resident Nagendra Mani Neupane. Constructed three years ago with monetary assistances of donors, the 75.45 meters long bridge at Setumari in Damak-10 of Jhapa district connects Jhapa and Morang districts.
However, formal inauguration of the bridge has not taken place yet. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had laid the foundation stone of the project in 2071 BS.
