Rajapur, April 2 : A suspension bridge over a river at Kushumbaghat has been closed to avert the possible risk of COVID-19.
The bridge connects Madhuban and Barbardiya in Bardiya district. The Madhuban Municipality adjoins with India and a lot of people had been coming to the municipality across the border from India for trading or for meeting their relatives on the Nepal side.
Ward Chair of the municipality Man Bahadur Tharu said the bridge has been closed in view of the risk of coronavirus infection as large number of people started commuting through it.
Both ends of the bridge have been fenced and padlocked. Tharu said the decision to close the bridge was taken in coordination with the local Settlement Improvement Committee, the police and the stakeholders.
