Bhadrapur, Nov 12 : The Bhadrapur Airport in Jhpa district is to fully close down for 10 days from today.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN)'s Chandaragdhi Offce stated that the airport is to be shut for repairing and upgrading the runway. The airport will remain closed till November 21.
Although the runway was repaired by halting flights to and from the airport from 2pm onwards September 6 through 21, it was not found effective so the need for repairing and upgrading it again, CAAN Bhadrapur Office stated. The runway is 1,500 metres long and 30 metres wide.
The runway repairing and upgrading works are being carried out at an investment of Rs 102.3 million. The Gauri-Parbati-Dev and Sayar JV Kathmandu has been awarded the contract for carrying out this work.
Ten airlines companies are operating flights to and from Bhadrapur Airport at present. Night flights are also operated.
